Israeli artist Daphne Horev is distinguished by painting on the border between the sacred and the mystical, in which figures of angels intended as our protectors often appear. She studied art in Israel first in Tel Aviv and then at Ramat Ha Sharon, later graduating in art education from the University of Leeds. In his canvases we can find the emotional atmospheres of Goya's dark works and the dramatic tension inspired by Caravaggesque chiaroscuro. Digital art techniques and photography, printed each time on different surfaces, give surprising results and slowly join and replace oil painting, in which the use of gold paint and gold leaf gives a mystical touch halfway between the earthly and spiritual worlds.

For Daphne Horev, wings represent a pictorial metaphor and a symbol of freedom.
