ALPINE A 110 HISTORY

Speaking of Motorsport, Alpine is the most important name of the post-war French: in the sixties it revolutionised the racing environment with its entry into competitions. The Alpine A 110, was in fact the first rally car equipped with a fiberglass body: a phenomenon of lightness, combined with an unattainable handling for many other cars of those times. Produced by Jean Redelè (son of a dealer Renault of Dieppe) who founded the "Societe Anonyme des Automobiles Alpine", the A 110 derives from the A 106 (built in 1956 with fiberglass body and the engine of the Renault 4cv). Before coming to the world of sports car, the "blue sedan" made a long gavetta in the French national competitions, evolving, at performance level, with the grafting of increasingly powerful engines. Produced from 1962 to 1977, the important competitive results arrived in 1967 thanks to the more evolved version of the 4 cylinders in-line from 1296cc with 110 Cv, imposing itself to the attention of the world of the competitions. But it was the further evolutionary step, with the engine 1600 (1565cc) of the R16 that launched the Alpine on the world stage, allowing it to win four stages - including the famous Monte-Carlo Rallye - and with the 1971 Championship.

In the 1973 won the World Constructors' Title with the increase of the displacement to 1800cc. From that year Alpine joined the Renault group and, among the cars produced in Dieppe, the A 110 is definitely the most iconic.

ALPINE A 110 V85 1300cc - CHASSIS #16287

The proposed car is an A 110 V85 produced in 1975, sold in France to the first owner and registered at the time in the region of Var (original plates available with department number 83). At the request of the first owner, the bodywork

presents the enlarged mudguards - kit ailes bulles - to accommodate the tires of major size. Over the years this beautiful Berlinette in complete original condition has participated in several regularity races (3 Rally of historical Sanremo) and events such as the inauguration of the new Alpine in 2019, in Cap-Ferret. The four headlamp headlight is characterised by the air intake for the "big brakes" with Group 4 calipers and aero tubes. The interior has been updated with Fusina seats, having 4-point belts Sabelt and semi-roll as standard. Thanks to the extreme lightness of this streamlined and compact sport car (625Kg), the four-cylinder in-line is capable of "brining around" the passengers to 180km/h, giving real sports emotions.
