SHOWCASE 1965 VOLKSWAGEN KARMANN GHIA
  • Code: VOL7
  • Experiment Nr.: 1
  • Lots Nr.: Einzellot
BESCHREIBUNG

At the beginning of the 1950s, Volkswagen decided to add a sport variant to the highly-sold Beetle, which would take advantage of its entire mechanic.

At the Paris Motor Show in 1953, the Ghia presented a coupe prototype based on the Beetle. Karmann, on a visit to the show, was impressed: after a three-year development (Volkswagen, Karmann and Ghia), the new coupé was presented to the public under the name of Karmann-Ghia.

The car was a great success, considered by many to be the sister of the Porsche 356, as it shared its philosophy and mechanics. This wonderful specimen proposed is one of the first series with small rear lights, two-tone livery and the classic engine of almost 1,200 cc.

The car has been completely restored in a maniacal way. It is also already in possession of the "ASI certificate of historical relevance" and still holds original number plates and booklet.
