After the crisis of '29, the most important manufacturers were forced to produce economical cars with lower engine capacity and operating costs. Thus was born the Lancia Aprilia which took its name from the city of the same name built in the Pontine countryside during Fascism. This model was Vincenzo Lancia's last great creation, in fact, he died a few days before the official release. The Aprilia, despite being a mid-range car, boasted cutting-edge solutions, such as the load-bearing body, independent wheels and aluminum block; all characteristics that the other houses adopted much later. In addition, the characteristic 4-cylinder "narrow V" engine developed 48 hp and a maximum speed of 125 km / h. The bodywork was studied above all in terms of aerodynamics, obtaining excellent results, without sacrificing comfort; a characteristic feature of the Lancia. The Aprilia already in the 1930s anticipated the fashions of the 1950s and 1960s.
